It’s hard to believe that it’s already February! The fog and chill of winter is starting to make way for spring. Hopefully, you are planning something fun to do for Valentine’s Day. As you find a way to celebrate this year in a more meaningful way then most (i.e. cheaper), there are many great ways to celebrate love this month without breaking the bank -- whether it’s a weekend getaway, a nice quiet dinner or finding the perfect gift. See some of our Favorite Things on page 35 and our Valentine’s Day gift guide on page 62 for more ideas. There are some really great deals out there, like lunch and a couples massage at a private Villa for under $250 from Estancia Day Spa. Winsome Travel even has some all-inclusive cruise packages under $500!
There is another gift you can give this year that costs absolutely nothing. It’s simply the gift of being receptive. There is a woman I work with who was sitting in a sales meeting one day when the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill literally jumped off the shelf and landed right next to her. Not once, but twice. Most people might have picked it up and simply put it back. Because she was receptive, she actually read the book. It transformed her thoughts about how she perceives and attracts money into her life. She realized that the one thing all successful people have in common is that they have the right attitude, not necessarily the right skills to reach success. What she read in that book resonated with her and she is now the top sales person at our company, even though she is new to the process and our industry. She even passed people who had been doing sales for years. How did she do this? Was it magic? She simply learned to be open to life and the opportunities around her. She started noticing signs all around her. When she needed something, the right person came along or the phone rang and it was the answer she needed at that exact moment. She worked in the same company as everyone else; she was selling the same product as everyone else; and she had the same training and opportunity as everyone else. She faced the same challenges out in the field as countless people complained that they couldn’t spend any money to build their business right now because of the economy. At times, she was surrounded by fear, lack and desperation, but she kept her attitude positive and continued to stay focused on her goal.
Try it yourself. Go pick up a book -- even if it’s one you have not read. Think about something you need or an answer you are looking for -- then open the book. I’m willing to bet money that you will find the answers you need. Even with so many different people picking up different books in different houses and needing different things, you will find that answer as long as you are still receptive. Just like there are radio waves flowing through us daily, you need a tuner or a signal to receive the message. Be receptive.
There is no reason in this world for you think you’re limited in any way. You have a divine purpose for being here. You have the capacity to attract the help, guidance, support, people, money, health, abundance and whatever you need in order to fulfill the destiny that you signed up for. Your source is unlimited, so as long as you stay connected to that source -- then you have no limits either. The minute you go out on your own and think you don’t need it, that’s when you get hit with something that humbles you. If you didn’t have anyone in your life to tell you who you could become, who would you be? If you didn’t have your parents, your schools, your religion, your culture, your business, your friends -- or all the other things that might have made you think you had limitations -- who would you be?
You are not defined by your past or present circumstances, but by your purpose. Find a way to be receptive and you can still reach your goal in spite of what is going on around you.
Good luck and Happy Valentine’s Day.
